My Story

Hello. My name is Diane Karm-Hollowell and I am the principal designer at DianeKarm.com. Designing jewelry and creating new pieces has always been a passion of mine and I have been a professional designer since 2001. My creative spark and eye for design are gifts that I inherited from my Mom.

My passion for jewelry, well, it started at Macy’s! I purchased a necklace and I loved it…at first. Then, my mind started tinkering with how I could make it better. I am never satisfied with something in its original form and I always feel compelled to improve on the design, quality and uniqueness of a piece.

So, I drove to downtown Los Angeles and found some interesting beads to add to it, making it more unique. It was after customizing the piece that I really and truly fell in love with it. I received so many compliments and requests for custom pieces… and thus began this 19-year passion.

I get inspiration for my designs from many different places, whether it be from the vast colors of the ocean – I’ve been lucky to have lived steps from the Pacific; or the green-faceted trees in Big Sur, our favorite vacation spot; and as simple as a few beads rolling together on my “creative messy” work station.

Adding to my joy in creating unique pieces is the happiness that I feel when I am working one-on-one with a client or showing my work at a fair. My clients come from all over the country and I cherish each relationship.

I am a Native Texan but lived in Manhattan Beach, CA for 34 years. Wanting to be closer to my family, I am now back home in Texas. I love spending time outside, working in my garden and collecting unique items for my home. My latest passion is finding outdoor birdhouses at estate sales and adding my personal touch to each one of them. My husband, Rich, and my dog, Hank Williams, Sr. are my biggest fans. We enjoy spending time at the lake and just relaxing.

My family and friends are especially important to me. I prefer hugs over handshakes: I love to talk but know the importance of being a good listener. I am always working on that one!

Cheers!

~Diane
